Does John Carew deserve another chance?
July 29, 2010, 1:20 pm sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
If you sat near me in the lower Trinity for the last two seasons you would know that I am not a big John Carew fan. I am actually one of the few who prefer to see Emile Heskey play over Carew - but maybe I was a little too quick to discard Carew. Carew was in one of his moods against Walsall on Tuesday night and okay, it was only Walsall, but nobody could get near him. The ball stuck to his foot like chewing gum to a shoe. » read full article

Summer is nearly over: Chips and curry sauce please
July 28, 2010, 1:20 pm sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
Summer time. Same old story. Welcome to Britain. A couple of months of patchy sunshine, ice creams and a new found appreciation of cider. It wonât last. The shite weather will soon return, the ice creams will disappear and people will realise that pear Kopparberg is actually pretty rank. Summer brings the same old routine. World Cup years are generally my favourite. I was lucky enough to pootle round South Africa this June watching some jumpers for goalpost action. It really is the hope that kills us. Always will be. Could this year be our turn? Could it? Maybe? Surely? Itâs got to be?! » read full article

Luke Young about to join Liverpool?
July 28, 2010, 9:23 am sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
I've just got a feeling that this one could happen very soon. Luke Young wants out; he doesn't like the retro football from O'Neill and when you talk publicly against the manager, you do it in the knowledge that your days will then be numbered. All things point to Liverpool but to be more precise, to Roy Hodgson, who was rumoured to be interested in the player when at Fulham. » read full article

New kit coming and Laursen on Gabby
July 27, 2010, 12:20 pm sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
You can order the new kit from tomorrow and it will be delivered just in time for Christmas. I'm not joking - you are going to have to wait and I don't have the dates in front of me but it is the end of September. Want my advice - wait until Christmas when they reduce the price. I know some are going to get a little annoyed with the release date of the kit but it really isn't anything to lose any sleep over although seeing as the shirt will not be available for the full season - I'd be a little hesitant in paying the full price. » read full article

Milner back, Webcam staying and we are drawing a line
July 26, 2010, 11:20 am sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
It really is all a bit tedious now. James Milner is off; we know this. The manager told us he wants to go and we have already had one bid in from Manchester City and you never sell on the first offer. But now there are rumours that Webcam is off or might be sold by the owner, despite him saying, only a few days ago, that he was happy. But then, some get flustered because there is another rumour that O'Neill will leave if Webcam is sold. It must all be true. » read full article

Win-win-win: Young and Heskey and video of the day
July 24, 2010, 10:20 am sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
If ever you wanted proof that a player wanted out of a football club - Luke Young gave it to us in May when he spoke about feeling cheated. For the life of me, I don't know why he wasn't played every week in his best position but I am also at a loss as to what Martin O'Neill wants from a player - mostly because Luke Young seems to offer it based on how we play. » read full article
The sun is shining, time to cash in on James Milner
July 23, 2010, 1:20 pm sourced from thevillablog.co.uk
This whole James Milner saga is starting to get extremely boring now. Just before the World Cup we were told that talks were positive but yesterday we were told that the player intimated he would like to leave in that exact same conversation. Does it add up to you? Then we have General PR, Krulak if you want, publishing figures about the net spend of our club over the past two years, when that information isn't publicly available. That isn't so surprising - the PR department should know this information, but he then starts quoting figures from other clubs, also for the last two years, claiming as fact, net spend figures for the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton. » read full article
